PGIN assists more Ilokano job-seekers thru special recruitment
To further address unemployment crisis in the province brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), aided job seekers and other displaced workers in the province by conducting a “Special Recruitment Activity” (SRA).
SRA is one of the services offered by the PESO, which aims to cater employers and applicants on job vacancies within Ilocos Norte by offering job presentations and matching services. Due to the continuing threat of the pandemic which disallows mass gatherings, the Provincial Government’s “Open Capitol Job Fair” activity, which is annually conducted as part of the foundation anniversary of the province, was substituted by the SRA.
“Ang mga participating employers nating for the SRA ay yung mga urgently hiring agencies or companies. Nagsimula tayong tumanggap ng mga applicants noong February 3, 4, at 8. Sa ngayon ay ongoing pa yung pagpili ng mga employers sa mga qualified applicants dahil ilan sa kanila ay nag-conduct ng mga interviews at examinations,” PESO Manager Mrs. Anne Marie Lizette B. Atuan stated.
Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc’s proposed budget for this year will prioritize essential measures for the rapid recovery of Ilocos Norte. There will be an emphasis on employment programs, alongside health care, public safety, in harmony with major investments in livelihood, enterprise, agriculture, tourism, environment, and education.
“Our allotment for emergency livelihood and employment programs will enable the Provincial Government to pursue a more vigorous employment campaign to alleviate the condition and protect the rights of our workforce. A budget is allocated for the funding of various skills, livelihood, communication training, and emergency employment for pandemic and all-hazards preparedness,” Gov. Marcos Manotoc remarked. – Stewart C. Ocampo, PGIN-CMO
