Dr. Eric “Yappy” Yapjuangco’s formula for perfecting his craft, most especially in rhinoplasty, is pretty straightforward—14 years of intensive study, endless research, pure, unadulterated passion for service and, most importantly, that unique personal touch. And through his unmatched practice, he sees his patients change their lives, one nose at a time.

Dr. Eric “Yappy” Yapjuangco

“A plastic surgeon can do a multitude of procedures, but rhinoplasty caught my fancy as I saw the immediate change in how people felt about themselves after the procedure. I loved the challenge on how I could improve the way they look, leaving others guessing if my patient underwent surgery or not.”

It was in the ’80swhen Doc Yappy found his calling to become a plastic surgeon, thanks to an episode of Mel & Jay. “The doctors were discussing how, through their work, they are able to regularly enhance not just their patients’ looks, but also their lives and self-esteem,” Doc Yappy reminisces.

Right there and then, Eric said to himself that if ever he’d become a doctor someday, he’d specialize in nothing else but plastic surgery. Fast forward to 2020, as Eric, true to his promise, became not just a plastic surgeon, but also one of the country’s best in his chosen field of specialization.

Before / After

Before The Icon Clinic’s founder Eric Yapjuangco became “Doc Yappy,” a name he prefers to be called by his patients and friends, he made sure that he earned all the credentials to assure would-be patients going under the knife that they’re in safe, competent and experienced hands.

Doc Yappy finished Medicine at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center. Previous to that, he graduated with a BS Medical Technology degree at the University of Santo Tomas. After his general surgery training at the Makati Medical Center, he completed his training in plastic surgery under the Consortium I Programme of the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (PAPRAS).

Before / After

After 14 years of rigorous study, Doc Yappy is now a board-certified plastic surgeon performing all types of plastic surgery, including rhinoplasty, at The Icon Clinic, his modern, standalone clinic in the heart of San Juan, where he has been practicing for more than 10 years now, and will likely be doing so for another 10 years, he says, maybe more.

Seeing Doc Yappy’s patients’ lives turn for the better is his most significant motivator in pushing the envelope in the competitive and ever-changing aesthetics surgery industry.

“A plastic surgeon can do a multitude of procedures, but rhinoplasty caught my fancy as I saw the immediate change in how people felt about themselves after the procedure. I loved the challenge on how I could improve the way they look, leaving others guessing if my patient underwent surgery or not,” Doc Yappy shares.

For Doc Yappy, the most challenging part of rhinoplasty is designing the nose. “Before we start the surgery, we discuss with patients the nose they want and the realistic outcomes. We must already have a mental picture of the outcome,” expounds Doc Yappy.

“I pride myself on knowing every single patient and guiding them through the whole process until the results they want are achieved. In short, I give my personal touch to each and every one of them,” concludes Doc Yappy.
