Ilocos Norte public schools receive desktop computers on World Teachers’ Day

In time for the celebration of World Teachers’ Day and class opening of public schools in the country, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), led by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, turned over some 370 desktop computer units to the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte (SDOIN), last October 2.

Present at the event were Chairman of the Committee on Education Atty. Saul Lazo, Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Dr. Joann Corpuz, Assistant SDS Dr. JoyeMadalipay, SDOIN Chief Education Supervisor Dr. Lloyd Rosquita, Provincial Education Consultant Dr. Dany Daquioag, school district supervisors, and public school heads.

“I am sure that these [desktop computers] will help in this new normal that we will all undertake, and I hope that we are able to continue to give our kids the education that they deserve,” Governor Manotoc remarked.

“To all our administrators, teachers, and supervisors, we thank you for the thankless and sometimes less compensated job. That is why we in the Provincial Government will continue to support our beloved DepEd (Department of Education),” he added.

Public elementary schools in the province will be prioritized as recipients of the new desktop computers while several secondary schools come next on the list.

Dr. Corpuz thanked the Provincial Government for assisting SDOIN in ensuring that education services are accessible amidst the pandemic:

“We are forever grateful to the Provincial Government headed by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc as well as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the continuing assistance and support that they give to Schools Division of Ilocos Norte.”

PGIN will use its Special Education Fund to purchase additional learning devices such as photocopying machines and tablet computers to aid the implementation of blended learning in the province.
