SUN LIFE TEAMS UP WITH SMART TO INCREASE FINANCIAL LITERACY IN COOPERATIVES

Sun Life Philippines has teamed up with Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) to bring its financial literacy advocacy to cooperatives across the country.

This will be done under Smart Coops, the telecommunication leader’s digital literacy program that aims to empower cooperatives to communicate digitally, market products online, negotiate through e-commerce, and engage with consumers in the new normal. Sun Life will complement these lessons with financial wellness seminars where the participants will learn how they can effectively manage their assets.

“During the pandemic, both financial security and mobile technology became more relevant than ever, as it brought Filipinos a sense of security amid all the challenges. Our collaboration will empower Filipino cooperatives as we provide them the best of what both our companies can offer,” Sun Life Philippines Country Head and CEO Benedict Sison said.

“The cooperatives are an important part of our economy, and similar to other institutions, they were also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are teaming up with institutions like Sun Life, who have the same endeavor of helping cooperatives. This is also to help Smart reach more cooperatives through their existing cooperative partners,” FVP and Group Head of Smart Go-To Market and Subscriber Management Melvin Nubla said.

This collaboration with Smart is part of Sun Life’s efforts to empower Filipinos pursue their financial goals even amid the challenges of the pandemic. The company continuously mounts free webinars and workshops on financial literacy, covering topics such as financial planning, management, investing, and entrepreneurship.
