The Icon Clinic: Over a Decade of Uplifting the Standards of Beauty

Real people, real results. These powerful yet very grounded words have guided Dr. Eric Yapjuangco, or Doc Yappy, to everyone who knows him and his team ever since he founded the Icon Clinic in 2011.

People’s never-ending quest for beauty has allowed the practice of plastic surgery to flourish, and 2021 was no exception. Despite the pandemic, Doc Yappy is very satisfied with how The Icon Clinic performed in the past year in terms of sales. When asked what achievement of The Icon Clinic he was most proud of for 2021, he said, “Definitely our sales. Despite the pandemic, we were way above our target. People are now more aware of what we do. BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) has now become mainstream, thanks to The Icon Clinic.

Doc Yappy is a board-certified surgeon who performs all types of plastic surgery at his clinic in San Juan. When asked how he has grown as a surgeon throughout the years, he said, “My technique has changed since 2010. I’m a much better surgeon now. Surgery entails skills, so the more you do it, the better you become.

Rib rhinoplasty, according to Doc Yappy, remains to be one of the most challenging surgeries to perform. Also known as costal cartilage graft or rib harvest, rib rhinoplasty is a procedure that uses the patient’s own rib cartilage to reshape their nose. “Well, technically, it’s more difficult, but I like the challenge. Rhinoplasty is the most difficult procedure for all plastic surgeons, and when you take the rib for the rhinoplasty, it makes it more difficult.”

Rhinoplasty, the Brazilian Butt Lift, and breast augmentation were The Icon Clinic’s three most popular procedures of 2021, and Doc Yappy believes that 2022 will be no different. However, he predicts that the Brazilian Butt Lift will be even more popular as people are becoming more and more aware of The Icon Clinic, one of the few clinics that offer this procedure which he pioneered here in the Philippines in 2012.

Doc Yappy sees the business of plastic surgery as one part skill and one part art. “Fifty percent of what we do is art.” But he sees himself as an artist with no specific muse. “Our slogan is ‘real people, real results,’ so these are common people, normal people who end up feeling like celebrities. That’s what we want,” he said.

It is The Icon Clinic’s brand of service that sets them apart from other aesthetic clinics. Doc Yappy and his team ensure that every person who walks through the door benefit from their experience and expertise, from pre-operation to follow-up consultations. Soon, more people will benefit from The Icon Clinic’s signature service. When asked what people can expect from The Icon Clinic this year, Doc Yappy said, “A new branch. We are still finalizing some things, but we are looking to expand.”

The Icon Clinic is open from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 7 pm. For more information about the Icon Clinic, visit www.theiconclinic.com.
